The Turban trend

The Turban trend

Global takeover:

A touch of the eastern fashion with a contemporary modern day feel to the look. The turban trend, is a fashion fad that never seems to die out. Perfect for those summer time looks, from Boho elegances to parisian flair, its a style that can work well with your flat sandals and sky high heels.

An pure essences of old time glam, many celebrities fall back on this trend embracing a relaxed mood to their looks. Last spring/summer catwalk '12 saw the trend hitting the runways for a return, with Dolce & Gabbana welcoming the scarf wrapped turban look.

In many Eastern cultures the Turban is an important connection to religion and tradition, but for fashion its the perfect and glamourous way of hiding a bad hair day. Its this summer most essential item, working it in your beach bikini look, to your city street-style.

I am in love with this trend, for those that can totally pull it off so effortlessly, I salute you. A unique touch of difference to any ordinary outfit, for your casual day attire to your evening gatherings. A trend that I have not been that brave enough to try out, but most certainly up for the fashionable challenge of turbans. -

Indian Stars hit Cannes

Indian Stars hit Cannes:

Best of Bollywood take on Cannes

As the film festival in Cannes has kicked off, India's finest Bollywood actors and actress are present and doing a fabulous job of representing Indian Cinema and all its glory. Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor, Freida Pinto and Amitabh Bachchan having been hitting the red carpet in Cannes bringing their top fashion a-game.

Classic Indian beauty Vidya Balan, is joining the film fanatics in Cannes as apart of the Jury members team. She has been seen embracing heritage Indian style in multiple masterpieces by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Her first look featured a red Mangalgiri anarkali by Sabyasachi and jewellery by Amrapali Jewels. Many of the western international stars, have commented on her cultural couture.

Brand ambassadors of beauty brand L'Oreal, Freida Pinto and Sonam Kapoor will also walk the red carpet in Cannes this year. Showcases the best of their fashion style from traditional to western show-stopping gowns.

Sonam Kapoor creates fashion drama in her outfit choices from Anamika Khanna Sari and jacket for the opening ceremony to a Dolce & Gabbana strapless bodice and voluminous skirt paired with a Sunita Kapoor neckpiece. I simply think that Sonam Kapoor is making all the right fashion choices, with her modern twists on Indian classic styles to her dramatic catwalk head-turners.

Striking actress Mallika Sherawat wore a golden beaded Emilio Pucci, the star is no stranger to the Cannes red carpet. This year she failed to present any sparkle in her outfit, I felt she lacked style and did not challenge her fashion boundaries. It was ordinary and no show-stopper.

Slumdog Millionaire break through superstar Freida Pinto stuck to the western style of fashion, for the start of her Cannes trip. The ambassador of L'Oreal beauty brand, she worked her natural beauty and classic cinematic style to great excellence. Wearing haltered Gucci and also Mumbai based designer Sanchita golden gown.

Its is so wonderful seeing the two worlds combine, form the western to the eastern. With the major appreciation of Indian actress, artists, and designers, events like this can always promise a spectacular cocktail of international designers and fashion style.-

Its sexy, sophisticated and forever timeless. From new cuts, colours and style, the basic development originates from a staple mens suit, that was adjusted to accentuate a woman's body. This spring/summer season do not fear the two-piece suit, embodied the impact of the power and play around with working the look to fit your style.

How to work the two-piece, SKarman Style tips:

-A Casual look: If you feel this look is too risky for your evening style, then its perfect for adding a little flavour to your day look. Contrasting with the tailored trousers and blazer, work a t-shirt, vest or mid-drift top underneath, relaxing the entire outfit.

-Accessories: To loosen up the structured look, its always good to layer up on accessories, from stack rings, to chunky statement necklaces, a great pair of earrings and arm candy . Choose one element of accessorizing, to not overcrowd your complete look.

-Bare all: Work your two-piece evening look with baring all, meaning just wearing the suit and nothing else underneath. Adding an overdose of femininity.

I love great tailoring with a unique twist, styling up your own two-piece will give the great advantage of creating a whole new look. Finished off with a pair of great heels or a quirky flat, it is the official look that can take you from day to evening.-

Sophie Webster

Sophie Webster

Emerging new talent:

When I first came across Sophie Webster's shoes designs at the end of 2012, there was only one delicious word that came to my mind...Candy. Bright, bold and beautiful, bursting with sweetness with their electric colours and fantasy fairy-tale like finishing. I just loved them, nothing like the world had every seen before, a whole new breadth of footwear, thats fun, quirky and yet flawlessly elegant.

Sophie Webster is exploding out on to the fashion scene, with her impeccable footwear designs after being mentored by Nicolas Kirkwood, she is now breaking out to create her own brand. Being spotted by Nicholas Kirkwood and his business partner, while attending Royal College of Art and winning two separate competitions that Kirkwood had judged. Webster soon went on to becoming Kirkwoods design assistant, a remarkable opportunity for a newcomer. Following her experience under Nicolas Kirkwood's wing, Sophie Webster made sure that her experience allowed her to absorb as much direction and knowledge as she could possible could obtain from footwear guru himself and his team.

Nicholas Kirkwood describes her as "She has a unique way of looking at things. There is a maturity and complexity in her designs, but they are still youthful."

With the help of Kirkwood and his business partner Christopher Suarez, Sophie Webster was able to launch her pre-spring'13 collection of her made-in-brazil label, this had retailers eager to learn more. With a great platform of launch for her brand, Webster has been picked up by renowned international retailers, including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harvey Nichols, Net-a-Porter, Browns London and Colette in Paris. Her accessories collection which includes, high heels, flat shoes, clutches and mini handbags, is priced between £150-£450.

The overwhelming response of retailers was definitely a dream come true for Sophie Webster, who truly feels thankful for her successful break into the fashion world. "I'm really pleased and so flattered that this level of retailers and buyers are supportive and they got it," she said of her collection, though the level of success is still unreal. "It's going really fast, but I'm enjoying every minute." Being new to the world of fashion, and only 2 collection established, she still believes she has a lot still to prove and offer the retailers that believed in her and consumers that took a risk in wearing her shoes.
I truly think her collection is irresistible, as with many other brands you can be satisfied with just one shoe from each brand, but with Sophie Webster the choice is endless and totally tempting. Each of her designs holds a new element of excitement. I believe that shoes are a major factor to anyones outfit, be it casual or glamour, they can enhance your style attitude to its highest peak of luxury.
Every women undeniable has a fetish for shoes, and there is simple no cure for it then satisfying your craving. Be sure to watch out and indulge into a pair of Sophie Webster heels.-
