EVENING GOWNS

EVENING GOWNS FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON:

With the festive seasons soon approaching, i thought i would show you some of the beautiful evening gowns that around for this holiday. I took some of my favourite pieces from Escada, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior (couture), Chanel (couture), Valentino (couture) and Alexander McQueen.

Tips for this seasons Evening wear:
  • Try and base your outfits on rich colours and prints for this season such as emerald green, ruby red, golden beige, Crystal Cream, luxurious leopard and classic black.
  • The length of your evening wear, should be floor length or above the knee. This would help is exaggerating the rich tones of the garment, and the shorter length allows the 'party girl' inside of you to be unleashed.
  • Vital to pay attention to the fabric of your evening gown this season, a big catwalk trend is the ever luxurious Velvet. Works well with rich tones such as red, green & black, and also drapes beautifully.
  • Try to work stapless, one-sided, two strap V-neck and full sleeved this season, when choosing the right cut for your body this New Year's.

Always remember a little bit of Glitz is never enough... make sure you accessorize well sized earrings, exquisite bracelets and gorgeous clutch bags....To complete your outfit.-

LV Celebrates Diwali

LOUIS VUITTON CELEBRATES DIWALI 2010

Diwali is the Indian festival of light, celebrated by Hindu's and Sikh's all over the globe. The word 'DIWALI' comes from the Hindi Sanskrit, which means "row of lights". It is the bright festival of lights, that is usually held in the period October to November, to celebrate the New season at the end of the monsoon. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the year in India.
This year French brand Louis Vuitton collaborated with New Delhi based artist and scenographer Rajeev Sethi, to create Diwali- themed window displays. This is the first time the stores will be celebrating a single festival on this scale.

From November the 5th to mid January, all of LV's 453 stores, over 5 continents will feature columns of trunks made of banana leaves (see Photo below), which will glow softly like lanterns are "aimed to give passers-by the feeling of gaiety and festivity," says the company in a press statement.

The couture company has also created a new "Louis Vuitton fabric" especially for the occasion of Diwali. Designed by the LV studio, the fabric features a mix of the classic Monogram flowers and Indian Traditional Motifs, that has carefully been woven by Indian Craftsmen.

Statement from Louis Vuitton "The decision to celebrate Diwali, the most joyous and vibrant Hindu and Sikh festival, in all its stores across the world, was taken to specifically honor the common values that Louis Vuitton shares with India, the respect for tradition and the passion for innovation."

On this Month's VOGUE INDIA COVER, features Bollywood Sensation Priyanka Chopra in LV's Diwali Collection Dress.-

JEANS

THE ESSENTIAL ITEM FOR EVERY WOMAN :- JEANS !

Jeans are known to be the item of clothing that is the start and end to any Woman's wardrobe. You can have a pair for any occasion, and you can always keep on adding to your collection.
I believe that one good pair of jeans, is worth more than a collection of bad fittings. Jeans are the outer silhouette of your body shape, and play an enormous role on your over-all body shape. It is essential to invest in quality jeans, that offer you the comfort and correct shape. There are many brands now available that can offer the best for your body shape.

GENERAL JEAN RULES:
  • Heavy & Stiff Fabrics, won't hang as well on your body. Look for softer weaves and washes that will drape your lower body well.
  • The darker the denim was the thinner you will look,Women tend to look larger in lighter washes. 'Worn' washes will highlight your figure wherever the 'worn' is exaggerated.
  • A slight flare looks good on just about every body type.
  • A little stretch added in the Weave of the Jeans, will help in adding comfort and movement to the jeans, also will offer more to your body shape for a tighter hold.

SKARMAN's CHOICE:

FIT:- SKINNY FIT
BRAND:- J Brand, True Religion, Juicy Couture & 7 for All Man-kind
WASH:- Dark for winter, Light for summer -
